I've been googling and searching all over, but I haven't come across any comment, reaction, anything about Wick Moorman's view on Amtrak's future under the new president. Am I looking in the wrong places? Or is he just being very sensible and not saying anything til the dust settles and we see what will happen?

I was thrilled that Mr. Moorman took the job at Amtrak, but I feel for him that he has arrived at a time of such uncertainty. :(

Old saying in Washington (from WWII) among those in "Political" Jobs:

"Loose Lips Sink Ships! "

Everyone is hunkered down watching and waiting as the Knife Fights go at Trump Central!

You provided the answer Patty, he's a very Savy Guy so a Low Profile is in His and Amtrak's interest!

The Amtrak President *never* comments on the US President, other than to say "I look forward to working with him/her."

Ultimately it is the executive branch via the DoT that manages the affairs of Amtrak. Congress just provides funding and lays out policies. So I have no idea what it means to say that Congress is a buffer between POTUS and Amtrak.

The next Amtrak Ink will "probably" have an in depth interview and some pictures.

Wick had a very short interview on the CBS morning show at the 0820 time slot today. Nothing of substance covered.

I'm sure his view is that he wants to keep his job, which he obviously had a plan for, which is a delicate balance between doing what is good for the agency and not pissing off the various politicians and political hacks keep him there at their sufference.

That is to say, like any other government agency, whether it is technically an agency or not.

Thanks to all of you for the responses--I, too, am under the impression that he is keeping a low profile. I also believe he will do what is best when it is needed for him to do so.

GaSteve--I perhaps wasn't very clear in my post, but I didn't mean that I wanted him to do or say anything right away--I was just curious as to whether he had. (Most of my friends consider me much too patient and wish I would hurry up a bit! :p )

Thirdrail7--I had forgotten all about Amtrak Ink--thanks, I will look it up. (What's it buried under now on the website? I remember it was usually hard to find down at the bottom somewhere.)

Mr. Moorman--a decent and sensible guy by all accounts--gives up a lovely retirement to lead Amtrak, with all its headaches even before the election, and now walks into a lot of uncertainty. It's the perfect example of "no good deed ever goes unpunished!"

You can find it at the bottom of the About Amtrak page in the Employees section or in the Browse Topics on the left side of the page

Smart guy he is, not judging , whining, panicking or fear mongering. What amazes me is that the President elect has had zero responsibility for any of the messes the country faces and folks are blaming him already. If he turns out to be incompetent, well, 2 years and his party can be voted out....and in 4......

Wick may have come on expecting another candidate to be elected president. His keeping a very low profile is just very good politics.

Ryan, the media are playing all kinds of spin games with everything the president elect is doing or not doing. The poster had a point. I'm surprised at you- you are usually fair.
