This weekend I took my parents down to North Carolina to visit my brother. They're in their 60s & 70s and Dad has health problems. Between said health problems and my mother's backseat driving a road trip was out of the question so went Business Class on Carolinian. The last time Dad was on a real train was in the early '60s when he went to Navy basic training (he wasn't impressed and hitchhiked back). Other than me booking us to Raleigh (were we arrived an hour late) when we only needed to go as far as Wilson the trip was a success. I'm happy to report they both enjoyed themselves. My father really enjoyed having access to a bathroom the entire trip; Mom loved the scenery and talking with the other passengers. So we'll probably be talking a better planned train trip next time.
