A sleep-deprived new father of twins and his co-pilot are accused allowing their airliner with 159 people on board to veer off course after they both fell asleep for nearly 30 minutes in the cockpit midair, officials in Indonesia said.
Perhaps they thought them unnecessary since there were at least 2 crew members in the cockpit.Certain auto’s have a safety feature that recognises if the driver is sleepy, and responds with alarms or even stops the car if necessary. Railroad locomotives have long had similar “alerter’s”. Surprised they don’t have similar in cockpits…
For most 2 man crews the alerted has been a flight attendant. usually sitting on jump seat and rotating between various attendants.
Depends on the flight attendant.It has long been a subject of debate, if having additional crew improves safety (more eyes), or hampers it (more distractions)…
