Is this heaven? No. It's Iowa.

Also worth noting: the CZ is serving breakfast westbound and dinner eastbound *during* the Denver station stop, but you will probably be unable to get either if you're getting on the train at Denver. Passengers getting on in Denver are all served *after* all passengers who were already on the train, so it's quite easy to find that all the late sittings are already taken if you're getting on at Denver.

Also worth noting: most cafe cars close half an hour to an hour before arrival at the terminating station, with the eastbound LSL's early cafe car closure being an unpleasant exception.
I've booked a spring trip on the CZ.

I will board at Ottumwa and ride to Denver in Coach.

When we get to Denver (Friday, May 1) I have a Roomette (0531 Rm 8) reserved from Denver to Reno.

I other words, I will already be on the train, not 'getting on' in Denver.

With my sleeper berth reservation, and assuming the train is on time, would I be able to get breakfast between Fort Morgan and Denver on my sleeper berth reservation?

Or.

Since breakfast is 1st come/1st served, what are my chances of getting seated for breakfast there in Denver or shortly after the train leaves the station @ 8:05 am.

I am planning to 'check in' with the 0531 SCA soon after I board in Ottumwa to establish how best to handle the coach to sleeper move once we get to Denver.

I would not be surprised if already being on the train is a distinction Amtrak will not acknowledge.

I would reply with definitely if on time, and probably even if not on time. We rode the LSL coach from Cleveland and transferred to roomette in Toledo (starting the AGR redemption). We were running a couple hours late, and breakfast was going to be over before we got to Toledo. We went to the diner and explained our situation and the LSA let us have our breakfast before we "officially" transferred to the roomette.

If on time, I would go to the diner when the train stops in Denver, might be less crowded at that time (before everyone else gets on the train).

You will get Breakfast after arrival into Denver as part of your room! T

There's a possibility that if your room becomes "open" before arrival into Denver that the SCA will let you occupy your room "early" before arrival into Union Station, but you will have to pay to eat Breakfast in the Diner before arrival into Denver unless the train is running late! Talk with the LSA in the Diner when you board, they may let you go ahead and eat Breakfast before Denver on your room if the train is running late!

If your room is occupied to Denver, they still might let you put your luggage into the downstairs luggage rack in the Sleeper. so the move from Coach to Sleeper in Denver will be easier! Ask the Conductor/Coach Attendant/SCA when you board in Iowa!

I have been able to do this several times on LD Trains!
