What caused #1 to lose 3 hours 40 minutes, and #2 to lose 1 hour between HOS and SAS this morning?
Traffic has been flowing over the Brazos for nearly a week now. Also Sunset ran both directions in east TX today.Confused... only one train a day each way here.
Probably due to the Brazos River Bridge issue, trains are taking a detour as a result.
The bridge opened for a few days, and then had to close again because another pier started sinking. So they're having to do another pier replacement, with more associated detours.Traffic has been flowing over the Brazos for nearly a week now. July 18th?They're still using the Galveston sub detour. I check http://http://asm.transitdocs.com/ on days it's running. Estimates I've heard for completion of the bridge repair is June 18th. They did try it about a week or so ago but something slipped on the repairs and UP has to redo some of it.
While this is true, I think loaded rock or coal trains will/would have much bigger chance of affecting the bridge than a relatively light Amtrak train. One would think that with the Brazos river bridge problems UP and Amtrak would want the detour to remain until a couple week's operation of freights confirms the bridge is not going to act up. Who wants to see the Sunset in the Brazos river ?
