Including: "According to the complaint filed on July 30, federal law requires Norfolk Southern to give Amtrak passenger trains preference over freight trains. The complaint alleges that Norfolk Southern regularly fails to do so, leading to widespread delays that harm and inconvenience train passengers, negatively affect Amtrak’s financial performance, and impede passenger rail transportation."

So much for the common good.
 
NS has done a good job of no longer delaying the Crescent. However last night's 20 took ~ a 40 Minute delay for freight train interference at Howell junction. As usual it was a CSX freight that blocked #20 from getting to the station. I keep wondering if NS is charged with these delays or CSX is charged? IMO this CP needs separating with a duck under for CSX.
NS was unable to make up the delay however the CLT make up time slot enabled 20 to get back on schedule..
