    Empire Builder accident (9/25/21)

I found it quite eerie to be pulling away from my own sleeper car in the dark after it derailed last spring on the Texas Eagle.

    Worst Trackage on Amtrak

On the Empire Builder Between east of Stanley, ND and Williston, ND. When the Conductor gets on the intercom beforehand and warns everyone to use a “wide stance” when walking the train through this stretch you know you are in for a wild experience. It was truly a 4 ticket County Fair ride.

Short answer. Yes When Ribbon rail is laid it is heated and expanded to a nuetral temp. Depending on area anywhere between 95-115 degrees I believe. This gives room for typical expansion and contraction. when conventional rail was laid there was a cardboard fiber strip of varying thicknesses...

    Stop Giving Up ROW

Locally, back in the early 1980's a 25 mile low use branch line had a few washouts. Burlington Northern looked at this as a reason to abandon the line. The Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) said no to abandonment. The line was instead railbanked with the County turning it into a nice trail...

    Seaboard92 Is Taking Off

I've recently seen a couple of Rick Steves TV episodes on PBS. As well done as they are, they were dated. (mid 2000's) I think there is a market for someone who does a Rick Steves quality show aimed more at people in your generation. And we all know someone who can fill those shoes... Go for it!
