I was quite surprised recently on the CS, TE and EB how clear the sound system was in both sleeper and coach. (But not in the viewliner lounge car)

What is with the fancy black metal fencing along the right of way property line on this route? It is everywhere and goes for miles upon miles. I've never seen anything like it before. State law?

On the trip I just finished mask announcements on the Coast Starlight and Texas Eagle both made allowances for not wearing masks while "ACTIVELY" eating and drinking and while in your sleeper room with the door shut. On the Empire Builder the sleeper room door shut allowance was not ever...

I'm no expert but... -stop train west of the west switch at Palm Springs. -call dispatcher to reverse switch. -wait for dispatcher to answer you. -wait for switch to reverse. -Get permission from dispatcher to proceed past red signal into siding. (occupancy b/c of sleeper.) -walk to rear car...

Nose guard, smose guard. Simply wear the mask (cloth or otherwise) a little higher and place the lowest part of your glasses over the upper part of the mask. No nose wire required. No more fogging up. It's very fashionable, too.

I would be happy just with thicker blankets in the sleepers. Or at least sew two of them together with the blankets they already have in stock. Oh, and have them branded, too. (Mentioning for a friend.) ;)

Just off the phone with Amtrak Customer Relations to request a partial refund for spending two nights and days in coach (Palm Springs-Longview) and a 450 mile bus ride (San Antonio-Longview) because of the derailment. Both myself and representative were pleasantly surprised to find out a refund...
