It’s not even in the station area - it’s in the CSX yard. Amtrak actually owns the few miles of track leading into the station. Then it’s the NS Back Belt for a few miles before switching over to CSX. Surprised that hasn’t been done yet but of course CSX is dragging this along as long as it can.

Yes that’s the location. The platform needs some work but it’s still there.

It’s the site of the old station, right next to the convention center in downtown Mobile. It’s not a bad location and it’s easy access from I-10.

The diner is gone and it’s back to lounge only. A fairly recent change. Updated (downgraded?) menu is on Amtrak.com

CONO doesn’t even have flex meals anymore. Only options are items from the lounge car, for sleeper passengers. I’d personally take a flex meal over a microwave burger, but that’s just me.

I talked to a friend at Amtrak and he told me the 1909/2009 has been renumbered as the 1912/2012. They sell six rooms in the bag dorm on the train. So I’m happy they kept me in that car, will be my first time in a V2 room.

Has there been a change in sleeping car numbering on the Crescent? I just got an automatic reservation change notice, and I’m now in the “1912” car. I wonder if this is still the Bag Dorm that’s still been renumbered?

The train is now just running with one coach. It’s a measly 5 car consist SAS-NOL…baggage (probably lightly used), sleeper, diner, lounge, coach. Something has to be done about this train. It has poor arrival times in both NOL and LAX, only one sleeper with rooms take by crew, and just a lone...

is there a diagram of the V2 Bag-Dorm somewhere? I have room 1 in the 1909 car out of NYP in a few weeks. It’ll be my first time in a V2 so I’m looking forward into it. Many, many nights spent in V1s over the years so I figured a change will be nice.

Pricing is all over the place. Yesterday morning I purchased a one-way BAL-NOL roomette since I had a some vouchers to use. The price for the room was $612. A few hours later, I saw on the website that I could actually do NYP-NOL for around $30 less. So I switched the routing. More train time...

When they find $100 million and actually start rebuilding the KCS spillway bridge… when I see equipment out there… I’ll believe in BTR-NOL returning. Until then, all talk.

Has anyone stayed in a V2 bag dorm roomette? I’ll be in one next month on 19 ATL-NOL. Looking forward to it since it’ll be my first V2 roomette experience.

Todays 19 passing through ATL has a dead head Diner on the rear of the train. Perhaps a positive sign of things to come?

At least the City has the diner back to go along with the lounge… so even though it still has flex, you aren’t trapped in your room.
