So far, we haven't had any extreme lateness on our trips. There is about a 3 hour layover on the last part of our next trip, but I'm not too worried.

No, taking the Cascades up from OLW for a visit to TUK, then up to SEA. Our friend will come up the day after to join us enroute to SEA.

That is why we chose the Cascades. We will be visiting the Museum Of Flight, spending the night, then the next day going up to SEA with our friend for the day. We can 'store' our luggage at the Amtrak Station while we wander around. Just made more sense to me to do it this way.

I have noticed that it seems that 'lateness' is more common during winter and spring, from weather, floods, mudslides. I know these aren't the only reasons or times, but just seem to be the big reasons. Anyone else notice this?

I guess it's the 'mom' in me wanting it to be a real smooth thing. I know last summer we sat with an older lady going north. There was a set of four seats facing each other. It was fun talking with her! On our way back, we sat in the front of the car by ourselves.

I would talk to the Conductor on the train you are on. He/she can call ahead, check status on the EB, and also should be able to tell you what to do when you arrive. It is unlikely that they would hold your train, but it doesn't hurt to talk to the Conductor!

We booked our tickets online last year, printed them at our local station. They had seats assigned on the rezzie and on the printed tickets. Remember, I'm speaking of 'Business Class', not Coach.
