    Amtrak Bedroom Suite

It does make a huge difference! When wife and son go with me, we always do the two room suite thing. Makes it much nicer! Usually a bedroom when it's me and my son. If just me, I can do a roomette. Had a last minute trip Kansas City-LAX, all that was available was a family room. That was great...

    Amtrak Texas Eagle question

Not sure that's correct-I've been on both 21, AND 421, in the regular sleeper-There is only 1, regardless of train number. They tend to put the sleeper on the rear in the summer for some reason, and on the head behind transdorm in winter. But in my experience, what train number you're booked on...

    Pennsylvanian

I usually take BC on the Wolverine, and it's worth it-I'm on 95 right now from BWI to ALX, and it's fed eyelet not.....apparently I paid almost double, for free coffee....otherwise it's a normal NEC coach.

New "just for you" dining option for coach on the Eagle

Am on 21 between Chicago and STL, and they just announced something new for the train, called Just for You Dining. At seat dining for coach. Had a one page menu in the coach seat back pockets, with Chicken Sliders at lunch with chips, pickle spear, cookie and bottle of water for $10 and for...

    The Last Hurrah....

I made my last Hurrah too....turned my remaining points in for $2,500 in Lowes gift cards. Horrible redemption rate? Probably. But with the way things are headed, felt I could get more use from them this way. I travel enough for work, occasionally by rail, that I can still get my fix a few times...

Any recent City of New Orleans experiences?

There is an extra meal going North, Amtrak has no lunch out of NOL. On Pullman, a cocktail reception upon boarding, and lunch served as departing. Really enjoyed my trip, will definitely do it again.

    PTC Showdown approaching (resolved)

Never mind, couldn't delete my whole post, so editing as follows.... Not going there....Just know, that as someone working on PTC implementation, I would suggest simply discounting Neroden's post, it is painfully clear he has absolutely no idea what he is speaking about on this subject.

    A Pullman Adventure

I was able to take Pullman North a while back, in a bedroom. Was a great trip, really enjoyed it, especially the round Observation car on the end. Booked tonIndianapolis on their Hoosier State in October, looking forward to that. Would like to do another Pullman, though hoping they expand to...

Amtrak Guest Rewards 2.0 Coming January 2016

Personally, I am looking forward to the changes. I never liked the "zone" redemptions. Sure, if you really worked the system you could come up with long trips for few points, but for real travel, it all depended on where you were going. Sure it was nice, being able to book a reward ticket just...

    July 1st Service Change Recap

I had that the other night. For the record, the potato was raw. The rest, as described!

    July 1st Service Change Recap

The chicken lunch special is good. Had it once, a year ago. Last 5 trains I have been on, had it on the menu, but not on board. Go figure.

    Train 22 7/6: wha' happen?

Oh sure, they did something in St Louis-sprayed Febreeze....the upper one works now, so they must have done something but the downstairs still has disgusting soaked towels along each door of each bathroom, even if they DO work, they're a health hazard to enter....Unbelievable. I am not usually a...

    Train 22 7/6: wha' happen?

I am on it now, we're about an hour out of STL. Freight train broke down in front of 22 outside of Cleburne, delaying it for 3.5 hours. Just been getting later and later since. Stopped a few times last night to "reset the computer" as power kept going out, but that seems to be fixed now. And on...

What is up with 22 lately?

Yes, it's looking that way....I have options, if time is made up and not looking TOO late into Chi, I can stay over and catch the early one on Wed and still be ok. If we get stupid late, can bail in St Louis and either fly to Michigan, or catch a river runner in KC, have work I can do there as...

What is up with 22 lately?

Spoke too soon....still in FTW, 22 has been sitting outside Cleburne for a while now, just announced it is now not expected until 4:45 now.....

Superliner A room vs other deluxe rooms

I don't mind it, but less floor space but not a huge deal, and I like a real wall between A and B vs the ones that are doors, those tend to rattle a bit and seem less sound insulated, but again, not by much...

What is up with 22 lately?

Well, so far it's going great, 821 is running a bit late which just reduces the wait in FTW, while 22 is running close to on time. On top of that, just noticed I had roomette 21, in the transform, which is ok, but with the regular sleeper on the rear now, would rather be back there-I don't mind...

What is up with 22 lately?

Watched the status maps, even though 21 got to SAS late last night 22 left ust 3 minutes late this morning, so I decided to give it a shot after all. Just boarded 821 in OKC. If nothing else, can always decide to bail and fly from FTW, LRK, or STL if things start to go bad. Here's hoping! Have...
