Anyone know why the 53 Auto Train is still running delayed departures from Lorton? I plan on being on tomorrows run to Sanford ( 3/9) and wonder how to check on when we should arrive at Lorton> Any Ideas? Thanks in advance. joro

Bypassed the bus and flew to Chi. When I mentioned the EB to the ticket agent I got a big groan as they will have to wait for the EB until it arrives at midnight.

My only time is making the LSL at 9:30PM so I guess it either the bus or catch a flight. With the status putting the eb four hrs late into Minot, I can write a very late train off. Thanks.

We have just been informed that tomorrow's EB out of msp has been switched to bustitution. Anyone know why? If time to chi isn't an issue, can you skip the bus and take the late train? Thanks in advance. joro

Just got word our long awaited train to chi has been changed to a BUS! Anyone know what's going on? I't's not posted on their web site. Do I assume correctly that the roomette charge will be refunded? If so how do I get the refund? Thanks.

Will be boarding the EB in St Paul tomorrow which is supposed to depart at 7:50 AM. I assume they will still be serving breakfast then, however as it says now, the train will be departing late at approximatly 9:20 AM. Are they typically done serving breakfast by that time and we are just out of...

Thanks all. Reversed my route so next week will be on the LSL and the Cap Ltd on the return run. I suppose that in the cafe car of the LSL they want you to be buying something to eat or drink if you want to hang out in that car.

Does the LSL have a lounge car where you can meet and greet new faces?

Do either the LSL or the Cap Ltd have a sightseer type car or will I be stuck in my roomette for both legs of my journey. Also, any recommended way to get from NYP out to Teaneck NJ. Thanks in advance.

Am looking at the Empire Builder from msp to chi during the upcoming reroute in North Dakota and wondering if that will mess up the scheduled arrival time in chi. We plan to catch the Cap Limited that same evening and wonder if that would be a bad idea. Any thoughts?

Great discussion and info. Although I don't mind the walk at all, When it comes to taking reservations for meals, the end of the train probably gets last dibs.

We boarded at Emeryville last summer. The station is small and it was very clean but had no lounge for sleeper passengers. We felt very safe. Not so sure about Jack London station at Oakland.

Why would there be a difference in pricing on Chi to Msp on The Empire #7 vs #27. The 7 roomette rate is $158 and the 27 roomette rate is $208? Isn't it the same train?
