    Amtrak to DCA airport

Definitely Alexandria. Alexandria Amtrak is adjacent to the King St - Old Town Metro station. Take any inbound Metro train (Blue or Yellow line) two stops to the DCA Airport station.

    Hidden City Fares on NEC?

There is nothing to stop you from getting from buying NYP-WAS and getting off at any prior stop. Coming back could be a little trickier with the possibility that your WAS-NYP reservation could be canceled when your ticket is not scanned coming out of WAS. There used to have a two hour grace...

Amtrak moving forward to stop all, most LDT

Communications does not always take place in the form of a letter. Amtrak government affairs people have phone numbers and in-person access to both representatives and staffers.

How do you know they did not respond? Just because they did not post a PR "letter" does not mean they did not contact the reps through direct channels as would be customary for response to congressional inquiries.

    California high speed rail

Several posts were removed that only discussed the trustworthiness of the Wall Street Journal and had nothing to do with California High Speed Rail. Please take discussions like that to The Lounge.

Flying through Denver on United concourse B

The bridge is off the mezzanine level, two levels up from the inter-terminal train station - same level as the USO, Delta and American clubs.  You can use multiple escalators or  one of the elevators.

    Upcoming Site Software Change

I'd rather just use the new software more or less out of the box and then go in and tweak what we as a group feel needs to be changed once it is up and running.  I don't have any great desire to make it look just like the current forum.  Losing the heart and trophy would be a huge plus for me. ...

SEPTA facing $63M capital budget shortfall over motorists' lawsuit

This toll diversion plan started with a proposal floated by then Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell to toll I-80 across PA. The tolls collected off I-80 would have gone to the PA Turnpike Commission (PTC). The law then called for the PTC to transfer $450 million a year to PennDOT for general...

Flying through Denver on United concourse B

I've stopped at the Woody Creek Bakery and Cafe at DEN Terminal B (mezzanine level at the central hub). Nice, fresh-made sandwiches, soups, salads.

    Upcoming Site Software Change

If someone agrees with a posted opinion, all that is needed is an indication of that fact. Unless there is a desire to expand the opinion, a simple “Like” works fine. If someone disagrees with a posted opinion, I feel that some elaboration is needed. What do you dislike? How do you disagree...

    Sunset limited top speed

I was under the impression that modern locomotives use doppler sensors for speed measurement, not wheel rotation measurement. A doppler device is not dependent on wheel circumference thus does not need adjustment to account for wheel wear.

Is BNSF the only railroad to help Amtrak?

If you do a Google image search for Amtrak and all the major railroads, you will see photos with various freight locomotives, not just BNSF.
