    Delta Airlines Lounge time limits

I think a lot of it has to do with all the airline credit cards now that give access. All the majors offer a CC with unlimited access for less than the yearly lounge fee.

Salt Lake City - How to handle delays

I’d stay at the hotel until an hour or so from the current ETA that day. At that point the train won’t make up time and unlike an airline you don’t have to worry about them swapping a new plane in to get the plane out earlier.

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

Dec 18th. As of recently it’s been 3 sleepers but one of them is a transition. Who knows. It’s always been fun planning out a train trip, until now, now its just a headache 🤕

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

I’m worried about my Dec 18th trip in the family room I talked about earlier. I called and asked to get out of 32 car but couldn’t as 30 and 31 car the family room is sold out. The CZ as of now doesn’t have a 32 car and guest relations said to check back for updates. She insinuated something...

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

I’m sure it would work since they just “look” at it vs scanning it. I wouldn’t mention anything though.

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

My two calls to Amtrak after my website issues yesterday left me this impression. A) The website obviously needs to be updated. B) The general reservations number is just as bad. “I’d like to book the CA Zephyr from Emeryville to Galesburg December 18th”. Gales where? GBB, oh ok. We have 3...

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

Ive been hearing “these kids don’t want to work my entire adult life”. It’s different this time. No leadership or accountability on any level. Amtrak fits into that mold. Following up on Dec trip. I called reservations, got my call back and explained the situation. After a painful 15 minutes of...

Amtrak service cuts on Texas Eagle

At one point they had the old Parlour cars prior to them being refurbished. The hi level lounges were branded ”see level“ at the time. I used to think what a piece of junk compared to the SSL, but I was a kid and couldn’t appreciate it as I should have.

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

With a 4 and 2 year old we’re trying to get the room all the way, but that’s a great idea. Same thing is happening this morning. Family room shows on website but then I pay for it and system figures out theres no room to assign. 5 different dates on both SWC and the CZ. I even called Amex to...

Rumors about Amtrak move to the MIC at Miami International Airport

“Let them eat cake” or blondies seems very appropriate for these guys!

Bedroom downgraded to Coach a week before departure

I am ready to pull my hair out! I’ve been trying to book a room from the west coast to Galesburg in mid December. We normally travel Fullerton to Gbb and I had a room booked twice this afternoon at $1576 12/15 and 12/13. I got all the way to credit card verification with my Amex card. I typed in...

Amtrak service cuts on Texas Eagle

My guess on the Eagle is hard red states but more importantly extreme politicians that care more about Twitter and wouldn’t blink an eye if Amtrak disappeared tomorrow. Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Tom Cotton to name a few. Gardner learned where to pick fights or in this case avoid fights from...

    Amtrak dining and cafe service

That’s a huge negative. Cups of coffee and cans of coke at bulk rate probably cost Amtrak 25 cents. Like everything else with Amtrak whether or not they actually charge you for them is another question.

Resumption of Amtrak service to Canada (2022-2023 Q2)

    Baggage checking

Exactly the 45 minute rule needs some flexibility and common sense from employees. Case in point we checked bags on our last SWC trip from Fullerton to Galesburg. Walk into Fullerton depot 50 mins prior to departure. As we’re walking in both agents put up signs back in 15 mins and walk out to...
