We'll be taking it from CLT to NYP. We'll get breakfast and lunch. Last fall when we were on the Crescent, we got to have our flex meals in the cafe car. They shutdown the cafe car to coach passengers, for about 2 hours. Both microwaves running non-stop heating up flex meals for us sleeper...
In less than two weeks, we'll be on the Crescent. Almost have myself talked into the microwave version of the french toast. lol.
As far as communal dining is concerned, we enjoy it. Have met some really cool people, and some head cases too.
I don't like it either. But I do have to ask, I wonder how many people currently ride Amtrak, that happen to be on the no-fly list? Legit or otherwise? Probably a small number.
I sometimes have to use the multi city option when booking CLT to WBG. Other times booking that R/T the normal way works fine.
Using the multi-city option, Amtrak clearly states to pay attention to allow enough time between connections, and that when using the multi-city feature, connections...
We have a trip on the Crescent, at the end of April. When I booked our roomette CLT-NYP, almost a month ago, we got it for $430. However lately when I check the same travel date, the price, from one day to the next varies from $580 to $680.
We used to have a couple of asian bus operators here in Charlotte. $25 to NYC was a common price. After one of them had a horrible accident in Richmond VA, that was the end of that. If I understood correctly, the state of NC passed some legislation. No more telling customers to meet the bus in...
I’ll be on the Crescent again at the end of April. Roomette. I’ll bring some high quality snacks with me. Back in October I brought a small cooler with me. I shared my stash of caviar and champagne with my fellow sleeper passengers.
Gotta do what ya gotta do to make the whole experience palatable.
Yes I’m aware of the social media posts that Amtrak does. Also aware of the many YouTube vloggers. Some of the vloggers have produced some really good content. Nice free advertising for Amtrak to boot. With that said, something is still amiss.
With the cost of sleeper fares becoming unapproachable for many, I guess the last thing we need is the same to happen to coach fares as well.
More new equipment, and not just a replacement of current equipment would be nice. I still have some youth left in me, but I’m afraid for better or...
I wonder if Amtrak were to do a nationwide TV ad blitz, if that would spur an increase in ridership? Or at least get a conversation started amongst those that don’t even think about Amtrak as a possibility
I’ve got friends who know, I’m a devoted Amtrak user. However, up until this latest...
One problem that has plagued Greyhound for a number of years is driver shortages. They can’t seem to hire enough drivers. Nobody beating down the doors to drive for them. Couple that with driver time out. Like a tractor trailer driver, after so many hours of on the job, they require x amount of...
We’ve never had any issues riding SEPTA. We’ve even done joy rides to some not so savory areas without issues directly to us. Did help a family of tourists once who got on the wrong line, only to end up in Kensington. We took the time out of our vacation to help them end to end where they were...
