Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment (2Q 2024)

Their are a few ways for me to tell what the test bed set looks like and where it is.

The test bed set was moved to Track 30 in the yard. I took a look this morning to confirm.

PJC is right in the middle of HAM and COUNTY. It’s about 1.75 miles away from CP CLARK which is only a controlled signal. There is a set coming from Boston to Philly as of now. Not sure if they are swapping sets or not.

Ok now that I'm on a computer allow me to debunk the myths of this post. "Ribbon Cutting"- MYTH, 100% false information. There is no date for service as of now. The company is hoping to have them in service by the end of the year. "Transition Plan"- I'm not sure what the plan is currently...

    Printed-out seat checks

When the new eMD’s came out a printer was optional for us. And said printer can be used to print out seat checks as seen. However on the Corridor we still use traditional seat checks and rip or tear part of them to indicate destinations.

Correct. The RR is shut down for a major trackwork project between to the point where NS was told they would be given daylight windows on the Corridor over the traditional night time runs. This is why 65/67 sit in Philly for however many hours. I believe the plan is to extend 177 to DC again in...

I’ll ask around to see if I can get an answer on that. Cause it is a good question.

Considering that I am a Conductor for the company you can trust me. 😉 I will book tickets from South Station and board at Route 128 frequently as my kids have family in the area. I’ll also add that each crew scans tickets differently. However most crews follow a pattern of when they’ll scan.

You don’t have to change your ticket. Reservations aren’t canceled if you board another 20 minutes away. I have daily experience in the matter.

    WiFi on longer routes

Wifi is primarily used for business travel when traveling. The majority of passengers on LD trains isn’t business travel.

Confirmed that testing is on hold for a while for now for FRA review.

Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment (2Q 2024)

I understand your point. However, the trainsets are limited to 90 MPH max, Type “D” speeds unless certain operating conditions are met as determined by the FRA. Therefore being capped to 90 MPH, that makes them the slower traffic. I believe that the FRA is currently evaluating data from the...
