    Hypothetical High Platform Superliner Replacements

Really other than size (actually fitting) and weight for CG purposes. I think that batteries could be an issue (haz-mat) depending on what type. I have no idea what is or isn't allowed these days. Partner periodically uses an everyday wheelchair but he/we haven't traveled in a few years so I...

    Hypothetical High Platform Superliner Replacements

No not just weight. You're very correct size matters. I have done weight & balance on many small airline aircraft up to DC-3s. Some with baggage doors big enough and some that aren't. I have also assisted (lifted up and over the wing and into the cabin) challenged passengers on small(er)...

    Positive comments about Amtrak?

TBH I really can't think of any real issue on any of my Amtrak trips. Other than having to detrain when I get back home!

    Hypothetical High Platform Superliner Replacements

That is if the flight is a B767 or other widebody. But not so much on a regional jet or commuter carrier.

Live Railcam catches shooting at Tucson station

I'm sure there are some but most would be just considered everyday murders. But you do hear about "drug deal gone bad" occasionally.

These interdiction tactics are common by both federal and local law enforcement. And not necessarily Amtrak employees dropping a dime. I was profiled and searched (physical and baggage) between Reno and Truckee on the CZ. The agents advised that it is triggered by several factors such as when...

It is legal in many states including here in Colorado (both medicinal and recreational use). But not 5# of green and 50 bags of Gummis. The guy was a dealer and got what he deserved. Shame that the agent lost his life due to the scum's illegal activity. You take your life in your hands on...

    Empire Builder accident (9/25/21)

Everybody is gonna sue everyone they can. I remember the American Airlines that engine fell off of on take-off in Chicago. They sued American, McDonnell-Douglas, the ground handling company(s), General Electric all the way down to the company that made the rivets that kept the plane together...

Live Railcam catches shooting at Tucson station

Very true but Amtrak has hundreds of stations or stop that are nothing more than a bus bench in the middle of nowhere. Or an old vintage station building that is no longer in use. This also doesn't take into account where trains stop for service and many passengers step off to stretch their legs...

Live Railcam catches shooting at Tucson station

Not necessarily Amtrak employees. I was profiled and searched between Reno and Truckee on the CZ. The agents advised that it is triggered by several factors such as when booked, length of trip, origin and destination. This is done by Amtrak, NCIS and DEA's computer systems. Agents were extremely...

Live Railcam catches shooting at Tucson station

The airline I worked for (Naples Airlines-PBA) was the first American carrier to be hijacked to Cuba shortly before I started. Single pilot (Jimmy Vach) and one man and his young daughter in a Piper Cherokee Six. The flight was from Miami to Naples, FL. He told me they took off and the guy...

I actually preferred the original with Walter Matthau. Saw that a few times in the theater I worked at. And fully agree on avoiding security checks at the airport. And that is after growing up and working in an airport. Hate flying commercial!

Might be possible at major staffed stations but not feasible at unstaffed stations. And what about luggage/carry-ons? Most stops don't have baggage services and baggage/carry-ons are easily accessible. That would add several minutes to every stop-n-go station along the route. Some routes could...

    2021 Infrastructure Bill

Oh heck it's been a while. Everything was 305 for me in Hialeah. And 813 for Naples (worked for Naples Airlines). We did have the new "TouchTone" phone though!

Not related but used to camp in Sebastion Inlet. Never knew the area code. Love the 3-2-1 relation!

    2021 Infrastructure Bill

Your point is factual in my conservative opinion. But I also feel that the reasons you stated that where the monies will go is also applicable to air and road. It is they are so highly subsidized that the waste gets lost in the shuffle. Where rail (i.e. Amtrak) tries to stretch the crumbs to...
