    Greyhound Canada to cease operations

If I do yes. I was planning on doing that if I had the honor of caring for the report. I feel like it's the least I could do.

What features are important in a sleeper

Since when do we not derail to the main topic?

How were Intercity Bus Companies Regulated in the US

I've been trying to read about how intercity bus companies like Greyhound and Trailways were regulated before they were deregulated in the 1980s. The best I can find is some reference to "franchising" but no details on how such a system worked. I can find plenty of things saying how great...

    Greyhound Canada to cease operations

I know this is a bit late, but is there anywhere I could find a PDF of the study? I would be very interested in reading it if I could and have had trouble finding anything related to it on my own.

Ugliest and Soul-less Amtrak Stations Used in Metropolises Today

I nominated then for souless, not ugly.

Nostalgic and Historic Amtrak Stations Still Used Today

I would add the Sacramento Station to the list. I know they're attempting to make it more of a feature which could be nice. I just don't like that they might not keep using it in the long run.

Ugliest and Soul-less Amtrak Stations Used in Metropolises Today

I consider "modern" commuter stops souless. Modern doesn't mean it looks good. I wouldn't consider a BART station good either. And that's basically what Vacaville station is.

Ugliest and Soul-less Amtrak Stations Used in Metropolises Today

I'd nominate the Vacaville, CA station for souless. It's basically the train version of a bus stop.

What features are important in a sleeper

For me it depends on why I'm riding. If I'm riding for transportation, I'd be fine with a section just so I can lay down. Capacity is also a big one. Amtrak needs more trains running so the prices don't get outrageous. As for quality, I've heard people complain about the quality of the bed and...

    2021 Infrastructure Bill

There is also the fun situation where two competing bills are introduced in both Houses and they have to go to a conference committee to hammer out the differences, then both Houses have to pass the joint bill before it goes to the President.

Does Amtrak Have a "Last Mile" problem on corridor routes?

The biggest station to me is Sacramento, and they have an light rail stop at the station, so that makes a good connection along with a Holiday Inn about a block away. I personally don't think transit connections are a make or break deal for most people when it comes to choosing Amtrak over...

Does Amtrak Have a "Last Mile" problem on corridor routes?

The main problem with transportation to and from trains stations is the quality of the local transit. One of the things I wished would be brought up is pushing a consistent levels of service for public transit. This would require the states taking public transit as seriously as education (yeah I...

Boeing 707 Promo Film from 1960

The 707 was very clearly the piece of technology that killed off long distance passenger service. Well its what held its head under until the bubbles stopped. Cars hurt the railroads, jets took the first class, long distance customers away. The thing I wonder is Zoom and other teleconferencing...

    Another dubious article

Unfortunately, Elon doesn't want to do anything useful with the proposed technology at the present time. So either someone will have to redevelop it or he'd have to be out of the picture. Cause at the present moment, we only have one being built and not any in serious consideration last I heard...

    Another dubious article

It's one thing to over look and it's another to splash reality on people's faces like cold water. Which is what I'm doing. Saying tunnel boring would be cheaper if we dug a lot of them and built them all to one loading guage isn't innovation, it's economies of scale. The Boring company has made...

    Another dubious article

Goes from trains are better than cars to let's use cars in tunnels! This is not a serious person. A short list of problems with the Teslas in Tunnels scam include fires, batteries like to do this. Property rights, people still own the land below grade and above it till it becomes air space. And...

Lakeshore Rail Alliance - Advocating for More Service Along Lake Shore Limited Route

This is the reason why the discussion needs to switch tonpeocideing dedicated funds, part of which should be distributed proportionately with a mandate for service instead of tinkering around the edges. It's not up to the states to determine the minimum amount of road spending or social...

    Stop Giving Up ROW

According to the advocacy group for rail banking, an agreement with local government is part of the legal framework to rail bank a right of way. Which only came into existence in 1983. Given how in some states, certain local agencies can only come into existence by an act of the respective state...

    Stop Giving Up ROW

My mistake on that one. Property owners don't assume risk in this country, they deserve to only acrue benefits, at least that's how we as a society act. Reactivating a railways in a reasonably populated area is going to face stiff resistance for any number or reasons, no matter what the legal...

    Stop Giving Up ROW

I know Iron Horse Trail where I live was railbanked at some point and there have been a couple attempts by BART to reactivate it as a DMU line. From what I can tell, the attempts never made it to the planning stage because rich people blocked it because they live near the trail. Which is a...
