You may think this story makes you seem like a cool guy, but you come off as a spoiled, selfish punk. You should have been thrown off at the first grade crossing.

The story says that "executives" from Amtrak and the other firms made donations, not the firms themselves. Amtrak employees are free to donate to whomever they want.

Don't count on being on time ---- or anywhere close to it.

So, it's all just speculation.

A lot of wishful thinking and not a lot of facts in this story.

check out the website of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners --- www.aaprco.com. That should give you plenty of information. There are a number of private car owners who would provide the service you deserve. Be prepared to shell out a lot of money, though.

There always seem to be a lot of interest in Stadler obtaining various Amtrak contracts. I suppose they would be more competent than CAF, but are they some kind of supersensational builder? What's their claim to fame? Or is somebody here a big investor in Stadler?

Extending existing trains seems like a favorite game with railfans. Sometimes that is a good idea, but often it negatives the reason for operating the existing train. Extending the Night Owl beyond Virginia is just a bad idea. Making the Night Owl part of a Florida train is a bad idea for both...

I wouldn't count on it. That detour would take the train way out of the way and would add many hours to the trip. The former SP line which is nearby is not fit for passenger service, so a bus bridge is the most likely solution.

Right it not like Siemens manufactures the plumbing parts. They need to determine the source of the problem and retrofit the pipes or other parts.

I was under the impression that the cold weather problems with the Horizons have been resolved. They make up most of the fleet for the Midwest corridors and I have not heard of any mass problems in recent years.
