    Large Auto Train Party

Sitplatz17, we all hope you have a wonderful wedding trip on the train, and we all trust that you will not let it become loud and boisterous. But if it does, please let us know so that we can come over and join you in the good cheer. AmtrakBlue, you know what they say about us: we whisper in...

    Service stops on Capitol Limited

PVD, no problem! I should have mentioned my deafness in the original post. No secret about that.

What makes you think that, Chakk? I can give as good party boy as anybody! Here's mud in your eye!

    Service stops on Capitol Limited

PVD, I already investigated the H room. Hearing impairments are not considered the proper disability for the H room—it has to be a mobility impairment. Thanks all the same. Zephyr17, thanks. Looks as if there will be more opportunity for the dog's relief on the Empire Builder than on the...

    Large Auto Train Party

They already said they couldn't afford to add me to the wedding party, so I doubt they have the moolah for a private car.

    Service stops on Capitol Limited

Thanks to all for the tips. Looks like the workable pee stops on the eastbound Capitol Limited are Toledo at 11:39 pm, Pittsburgh at 5:05 a.m., and Cumberland at 9:20 a.m. I'll also be taking the Empire Builder Chicago-Seattle in January. The service stops and crew changes seem to be a little...

    Large Auto Train Party

I doubt very much that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn will crash the party.

    Service stops on Capitol Limited

I will have a new service dog next month, and just before Christmas will be riding the Capitol Limited in a roomette from Chicago to Washington and back. What are the train's service stops along the way? I need to plan ahead for walking the dog.

Damn, I thought there would be a catch. All the same, congratulations, and have a great time!

    Large Auto Train Party

If you need more folks to fill out the required roster of 20, I will be delighted to volunteer. If you're paying, that is.

    Diner Seating

Eric308, you win, I surrender. If folks come into the diner wearing Sea Otter/Alaskan State Trooper hats, I will buy the wine. That hat ought to be good for conversation for an entire meal.

    Diner Seating

I'll see your Carhartt hat and raise you two Stormy Kromers.

    Diner Seating

I am of two minds about hats in the diners. Bald-domes (like me) sometimes need a iittle protection, especially if the air conditioning is on high. Maybe the lead service attendant could hand out yarmulkes, the way the Israelis do for tourists at the Wailing Wall? (A Catholic attendant could...

    Possible CP-NS merger and Amtrak

CP handles the Hiawathas? I thought that was UP.

    Oh no! Not again......

    What train? What station?

SCA service seems to be going downhill fast

"I don't have a dog in this specific fight but one thing I've noticed over the years is that Amtrak critics tend to have actual complaints about specific events that disappointed them while Amtrak apologists tend to just repeat the same vague "everything's fine on my trips" response over and...

Maybe Amtrak's "POS Solution" Is NOT set!

NRA, POS, CHI, EMY, ABC, DEF . . . we in this forum love acronyms so much that sometimes it's difficult to tell what members are talking about. "Saves time," some say. True, but that also thickens the fog, especially for newcomers.

Dining car lunch service removed from #30

Not to excuse slovenly service, but isn't it true that the diner crew has to have the dining car cleaned up and squared away before arrival in Washington? Sometimes the train is actually half an hour to 40 minutes early. Maybe that is why the lead service attendant apparently is given freedom to...

SCA service seems to be going downhill fast

Don't let one sleeping car attendant poison your waters. I ride the Cap a lot, and almost all of them have been pretty good.

Do you get off at longer stops (a poll)?

When my new service dog arrives, I'm going to have to research the stops very carefully! Wouldn't want to get left behind mid-whiz. On the other hand, I understand the sleeper attendants are very careful about making sure people with disabilities get back on before the highball. At least I hope so.
