    Amtrak dining and cafe service

Will be on the Star next Saturday. Will go to the dining car to eat. Maybe they should change the name to "Eating Car".

Auto Train: Why not more routes?

I'd use it if they extended it to Philadelphia-Miami. D.C. traffic is a pain to drive through, and Miami is a 4-hour drive.

Silver Star/Silver Meteor combined train (Jan - Oct 2022)

So far, the Star going through the Ashland, VA live-cam that I have seen had 5 sleepers. Cars 1,3, and 5 are V2.

Philadelphia Airport to 30th Street: SEPTA or Lyft?

SEPTA is the first train we take for our yearly trip to Florida. I'm 80.

My 24 Hour visit to Dublin…

We are taking the Queen Mary 2 over in August, and flying home. We will be taking a train to York, home of the British RR museum. But first...train to Florida in 2 weeks.

    ClubAcela in Philadelphia hours

Funny, I tell my wife I'm going downstairs to "people watch". I've never felt uncomfortable in a Amtrak station.

Amtrak long term service cancellations and restorations (2022-2023H1)

I have a feeling that they like the cost saving of running just one Silver train each day. If that is the case, they should run the Star Fri, Sat and Sun, and the Meteor the other 4 days. They did that at the start of the Covid cut-back. Now everyone has to take the much longer route via Tampa.

Amtrak long term service cancellations and restorations (2022-2023H1)

The Silver Meteor was supposed to resume on 3/30. Got a email from Amtrak this morning titled "Ticket confirmation" showing our 4/2 Florida trip was changed (by them) from the Meteor to the Star. It should have been titled "Change of train", or at least "Change of departure time".

    Amtrak Metropolitan Lounges

The only two I have used are Philadelphia and New Orleans.

Amtrak stations open only to customers?

NYC Penn Station makes you show your "ticket" to enter the waiting area. The rest of the station is open. I assumed this was to keep the homeless and people begging out.

The future of Amtrak and the long distance trains

True...even large communities. If a person in Southern Florida wants to go by train to Disney World, their only trains are the two Silver trains. Actually, only the Silver Meteor, unless they don't mind a extra 2 hours going by way of Tampa.

    Brightline Trains Florida discussion

Way too many grade crossings= more chance to run into an idiot. When we rode this train years ago, they were "gun shy" over 4 recent accidents, We crawled though every grade crossing, turning the 45 minute trip into 2 hours.

Why don't more "High Profile" people ride the train?

Many of them own their own jets.

    Assigned seats on the train?

Another thing you can do if seats are NOT assigned is avoid the "sun side" if you plan on looking out of the window. Our last Acela trip had us sun-side both ways.

    Route Timetable PDFs returning? (2021-2022)

Timetables are handy for reasons not yet mentioned. Since we are "senior citizens", probably not important to many of you. One, in coach on the way to Boston: "Dear, would you like to have lunch at 11:45 or 12:20?". This to give me and easier time walking while trying to carry stuff trough 2...

    Acela 2151 Stalled in Queens

Especially frustrating when you've paid double the NER price to arrive earlier.🙁

    Schedule confusion

To make a copy of a trip schedule, go to asm.transitdocs.com Then in "train status", enter the train number and a date prior to today's date.

    Trains reversing at terminal stations

At least in the "old days", the NYC/Chicago bound Broadway Limited stopped at the smaller station at North Broad Street so it did not loose any time going into downtown Philadelphia. The south-bound trains would use the PRR terminal downtown.

    Price increase or glitch?

I love it when booking a roomette it says, "Only 1 available at this price". What's the new price? Higher or lower? What if I need 2? I know, use the 'phone.

    Most luxurious Amtrak train ever?

It's all relative. To me, the biggest "luxury" will be not having to wear a mask...anywhere.
