I don't understand. If you have x number if people booked on a Viewliner on 449 and it is bad ordered, and they add a sleeper of the same type to 49 specifically for this x number of people, how can there not be space for everyone???

Most hotels will let you leave your bags there then check in later. Or leave them at the Metropolitan Lounge at LAX as was suggested.

It is strange that running any kind of priority train is so difficult in the current railroad environment, not only passenger trains but hotshot freights, which the railroads have given up on as stated in the article. Years ago this was commonplace, not only passenger trains but freight trains...

When you can't read the signs as you go past a station ( to know where you are) then you know you are going fast. Other than that I agree you need a GPS.

The train did have 2 units so they uncoupled the rear unit that was on fire and proceeded to Boston. Presumably the Berwick fire company is dealing with it.

A report on Facebook that train 682 delayed at Berwick with a fire in one engine. Possibly this set has 2 locos one on each end. Amtrak is showing a service disruption. This is the 7:10 am departure from Brunswick to Boston.

Wow. A sleeper from a connecting train arriving in Cincinnati at 7:30 AM to be switched into the Florida train leaving at 8 AM. Railroading like that seems to be a lost art at least in this country.

I believe they are also into rail freight in the UK. I wonder how profitable that is, given the access charges and the general difficulties running freight there.
