    Amtrak delays 2023 H2 - 2024

Trains 504 and 505 have crossed the bridge with little delay, using the other track.

    Sunset Limited discussion

I’m guessing it was more for passengers who got on before Sacramento. I noticed 11 made a long stop there. Part of that might have been to transfer connecting passengers to take the inland round to meet up with #2. Passengers from SLO onwards could have been accommodated by the Surfliner. Of...

    Amtrak Alerts and Notices

However they do not post alerts about every train anymore. 'Minor' delays will only be found using the train status page.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Yeah I’m not in many of the Facebook groups but from what I have seen many aren’t thinking big picture.

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

Another interesting observation - after this September date I discovered that (on the Cap) only a max of 4 bedrooms can be booked on each train. As we know, a viewliner car only has 2 bedrooms per car while a superliner has 5. A max of 4 bedrooms and no family bedrooms would imply that they are...

New train (40-41 Floridian) between Miami and Chicago via Washington DC

It’s like this for many dates. The star (both directions) seems to be marked as sold out between NYP and WAS every day in the fall months. From WAS to MIA accommodations are available, though. [also just now catching up on this thread. I see this information might have already been mentioned...

    Amtrak telephone numbers/issues

Yeah the Vancouver station has weird hours. Closes right before the EB is due to arrive.

Can companion coupon be combined with Amtrak travel voucher?

Yes, they can be combined. The voucher is considered a payment method, not a coupon. (Thus the ‘cannot be combined with another coupon’ rule does not apply here).

I see an alert on the Amtrak app, if you know where to look for it. Platform closed due to storm damage.

    Horn noise and fumes

Also note that the Coast Starlight has the sleepers at the back due to no transdorm.

    Fare Buckets discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

Looks like there have also been recent fare bucket price increases on the Silver Star/Meteor and Lakeshore Limited (and possibly other routes as well, but I haven't checked). Might want to update those before you publish the next chart.

That came sooner than expected! The new menu is already on the Amtrak site. https://www.amtrak.com/content/dam/projects/dotcom/english/public/documents/menus/routes/Long-Distance-Dining-Car-Menu-0424.pdf

    Fares that don't make sense

Yep, fares range between $500-900 on the starlight. However due to the low capacity in the sleepers, good luck getting a low bucket except for in the off season.

    Fares that don't make sense

Yeah I scored a semi-last minute low bucket on the zephyr last august as well.

    Amtrak Cascades Service discussion

I’ve heard the Eugene yard (which has the wye) contains a type of track with less stringent maintenance requirements, and the FRA prohibits passenger trains from being ran on such track.
