Exchanging a ticket toward future travel: Limits?

So, if you apply a voucher toward a reservation and then later on apply those printed tickets from the 1st reservation, paid for with the voucher, toward a new reservation, are you stating it wouldn't work if the original voucher used to pay for the original tickets had already expired?

Exchanging a ticket toward future travel: Limits?

Printed tickets retain their value for one year from DATE OF ISSUE. .It has always been my advice and practice to apply an old ticket or soon to expire voucher toward a new reservation. That always seems to extend the credit for another year from the new date of issue. There are times when I...

Pulling the Emergency Break After Missing your Stop?

Yesterday, I was traveling back from Chicago for the weekend when we were suddenly brought to a stop after Wisconsin Dells. It turned out someone missed their stop and took the liberty of pulling the emergency break. We came to a stop. They opened the door and got off without getting caught...

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see you. It was fun to meet you at the Gathering in 2008.

For anyone atending the train day in Chicago!

I'll be arriving at around 4:30 on the Hiawatha and would like to see you again. Will you still be in CHI or going back to Michigan?

What are you doing on National Train Day? May 9th

I may get a chance to see you if you want. I should be in the lounge for a little while that evening before the City of New Orleans boards.

What are you doing on National Train Day? May 9th

I apologize if this has been posted before. Right now, I am planning to go to Union Station in Chicago to check out the festivities. I'll ride from La Crosse to Chicago on the EB. Then I'm planning to take a short round trip to Glenview on the Hiawatha. Lastly, I am taking the City of New...

AGR Upgrade Coupons-Are they valid on Thruway Fares?

I may call again and push the issue if it comes to that. However, it is a long way off and I am beginning to rethink my plans. Train 66/67 seems kind of alluring because I have never ridden it and have been told via other threads that it uses old Metroliner cars and is truly one of the nicest...

AGR Upgrade Coupons-Are they valid on Thruway Fares?

I am also interested in how this works out. Let me explain my entire situation: I am traveling to and from Boston for the Gathering and also from New York City to Washington earlier in the year for a seperate itinerary. In both cases, I opted to take the Capitol Limited since it was quite a...

AGR Upgrade Coupons-Are they valid on Thruway Fares?

I am referring specifically to those coupons that come with Select and Select + packets to be used 1 hour or 48 hours prior to departure. These fares are all hypothetical and not exact so I hope it doesn't violate forum rules: Let's assume I am traveling from Boston back to Chicago in Coach...

Getting Points When tickets already purchased

YES...PLEASE DO WHAT ALAN SAYS :) It will save so much time and aggrivation. I had an agent print me a ticket with the incorrect spelling of my 1st name and no AGR #. However, as long as you have it fixed/added before you take the trip, you are good to go.

    AGR E-mail

Hey Al, The Hiawatha offers the advantage of having fixed pricing with no high/low buckets and the most opportunities for a quick ride. I personally like to go from Chicago to Glenview and grab a meal or drink at "Grandpa's." It's a tavern/sit down restaurant. It's easy to do a round-trip...

    Milwaukee Station

If you are catching a plane at the airport, you can ride the Hiawatha to MKA (Milaukee Airport) and the shuttle will come and pick you up for free--show him your train ticket to ride. Otherwise, there is a sign in the station with a phone # you can call and they will come and get you. The...

    Have U ever...?

I've down this routng a couple times: 1. La Crosse, WI to Detroit Lakes, MN 2. Detroit Lakes to Milwaukee 3. Milwaukee back to La Crosse. It works out to be 20 out of 24 hours on the train. In Chicago, t's actually pretty easy to take a train one way, stop and eat diner at whatever town...

    Springfield Illinois Amtrak

Your best bet may be to just call the station and ask. (217) 753-2013 I've found that the smaller the station, the greater chance that they may be willing to accomodate you offically or unofficially. They may even allow you to do it for free, but they may also have a limited amount of room.

How many digits are in a standard AGR account #?

Last week, I made a couple of transfers from Continental to AGR. Today, all posted except one. Concerned, I called Continental and had them verify the AGR # it was transferred to. It turns out that my AGR account has 10 digits. When the agent verified the AGR # on the Onepass transfer, it...

    More trouble with AGR Reservations

I was in Chicago Union Station 2 weeks ago and went up to one of the ticket agents at a main window. I gave him my reservation and he pulled it up in the system. Looked at it and said it was an AGR reservation and he wasn't allowed to touch it. I explained to hi tha it wasn't, that it only...
