    CHI is a heck of a lot more exciting at 2:45 PM than boarding the Coast Starlight northbound at SAC (Sacramento) at midnight. Elyria, Ohio (ELY) at 3 AM is very interesting but not too exciting.

    Why not just end the route in Everett during the months of December thru March? Is there a way to turn the train in Everett? I suppose the turn around crew (maintenance and cleaning etc.) would have to relocate to Everett for the duration.

    So is it crazy to continue on to Emeryville and transfer from CZ to the CS there? Looks like only a 5 hour layover instead of 8 hours at Sacramento. I have done the 8 hour wait till 11:40 PM at SAC and it's not fun around about 9 PM!

    The Worst Amtrak Stations Youve Actually Seen?

    Elyria Ohio (ELY) is the worst I've seen. Waiting for the LSL at 4 AM on a cold winter night is not fun. The "station" looks to be an old modular office trailer, complete with holes in the interior walls, collapsing ceiling and broken toilets. No sign of any security, but a working pay phone...
