8(16) trouble

Does anyone know why 8(16) lost 3 hours between Shelby and havre?

I never know what 8 (16) etc means ... I instantly think of the 2 EB sections.

But I guess you mean train 8 on the 16th.

To dial it in even more... The date the train was scheduled to depart from its originating station.

Yep, I used that to denote which train 8 I was talking about, as there can be as many as three 8's running at one time.

I hope someone will post info on Gene's background; I would like to know.

Gene Poon is a regular contributor on the Train Orders site. Many consider him to be rabidly anti-Amtrak. He does start many threads critical of Amtrak. On the other hand, it seems to me that most of his criticisms have merit, and I have not seen anything that suggests that he wants Amtrak to fail. He does seem to have some inside source of information, and he is often first to announce a problem or even an initiative.
