... he waited in the hot Needles station for ... hours ...

There is no station in Needles! That building by the platform is a freight office - not available to the public. Whenever I departed, or visited to see the SWC come thru, I had to wait on the platform. (Not a big deal when it’s usually in the 80’s or 90’s at 1-3 am!)

Is BNSF the new CSX? That's 3 in the last few weeks: Aurora, Ottumwa, and now AZ. Or is it just the case of rolling 10 tails in a row?

Jakob Frost - "When he explained his situation to an employee on the train and asked if he could upgrade to business class, he was told it was full."

The SWC doesn't have Business Class.
Yep, that sounds about right. I would think he probably means sleeper, but who knows right?

Jokes and nonsense aside, he should just call customer relations and ask for a refund. Even if the staff aren't offering refunds on the spot, they're usually pretty good about that stuff if you call. Either way, it's an article, so why not slam Amtrak!

Oops, another one. The Quincy Herald-Whig reported six double stacks hit the ground on 6/9 south of Medill, MO, which appears to be on the SWC route.

Have derailments always been this frequent in the U.S? Or has it just been a bad few weeks? I feel like there's a derailment almost every day lately...
