Amtrak East Coast single level consist possibilities

The Wakefield and Sleepy Hollow seats were a lot more comfortable than any current Amtrak seats, speaking as a full size 2024 American. They were plenty roomy and well cushioned. They were like Lay-Z-Boys, especially the Wakefield ones on the El Capitan. You could bring them back tomorrow and no one would complain.

The Sleepy Hollow brand of seats, were all manufactured by the Heywood-Wakefield Company.
The El Capitan seats were also very comfortable, but were produced by Karpen, a different company.

I agree…they were both far superior to any current seat in terms of ergonomic comfort. Because of their deep recline angle, it was not possible to have tray tables attached to their backs. But I’d gladly give those up for long distance comfort.
