This deal will save customers a fare equivalent to the coach fare of one passenger. Pretty good if you wish to take along a companion. Many regular travelers who reach select and select plus status also get a companion coupon but without the traveling date limitation.

Too bad I'd already booked a roomette for 2 on the LSL just a few days before this came out. I wonder if I could try rebooking with this new offer. Although since the trip is in late March I probably would get hit with the cancellation penalty.

Call and talk with a good agent to try and rebook it. They are able to waive cancellation penalties if so inclined.

I called AGR and they were able to rebook it, bringing the price down from $785 to $633. We are now across the hall in an odd numbered roomette. I don't recall whether this is the river side or not.

Too bad the promotion is only good for travel through mid-April. Early October is when the hubby and I can usually block off enough free time from work to make an Amtrak trip.

I just tried to book this Pittsburgh to Milwaukee but it wouldn’t let me. It said the offer wasn’t good on one of the segments…. Right, the Chicago - Milwaukee one. I know that. But it happily took me all the way to the payment info page before telling me. Why their system won’t allow a booking with one segment in a roomette and the next on an all-coach train I don’t know. So I have to call.
