From Trains.com December 24 ... no sure if this might fit in an existing thread so, I'll start a new one.
Bob Johnston discusses the handling of of a ridership surge and reduced capacity (only two coaches instead of three, etc.)
Staffing is touched on only in the last paragraph.
I think a lot of us already know this!
Frequent sellouts on long-distance trains reflect both demand and lack of capacity

Sidelining equipment? Sightseer lounges and restaurant cars?
Meh, very very meh. Amtrak... are you out of energy and inspiration? Are you tired? What's with you?
Oh, it's a government run operation I guess. But the inspired dining on the Western long hauls tells us you may still be alive.

Are you?

Since I'm from the 'Show Me State of Missouri' that cancelled half of it's Amtrak Roadrunner service between STL and KC...
Show me!
