Amtrak sidelines equipment, turns away revenue

Bob Johnston discusses the handling of of a ridership surge and reduced capacity (only two coaches instead of three, etc.)
Staffing is touched on only in the last paragraph.
I think a lot of us already know this!

Amtrak has had many executive administrations. None have shown much sense.

OTOH, the airlines aren't looking so great lately either.

Meh, very very meh. Amtrak... are you out of energy and inspiration? Are you tired? What's with you?
Oh, it's a government run operation I guess. But the inspired dining on the Western long hauls tells us you may still be alive.

Since I'm from the 'Show Me State of Missouri' that cancelled half of it's Amtrak Roadrunner service between STL and KC...
