very nice trip report Too bad you cancelled the visit to Mesa Verde Natl Park -- it really is worth the time to visit, and the two of you would probably have been better adjusted to the altitude by then. While I have done the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR in both directions, I much prefer the 4% climb UP from Chama to Cumbres Pass, instead of the slow drifting run downgrade from Cumbres south to Chama.
