i may misunderstand how agr routes trips. i thought they would choose the routing the computer shows with very little leeway. just did a rt redemption spk-abq. the computer routes you from pdx-sac and then 2 buses and one train later to lax to meet up with the swc. i told the agr rep we would rather go pdx-lax, overnight in la and take the swc that evening. they said ok and that it is all one redemption. coming home, i was afraid they would put us on the bus from klamath falls to pasco to meet the eb. i told them we would prefer to take the cs from lax-sea, overnight in seattle and take the eb to spk the next day. not a routing the computer will allow afaik. ok with them again as a single redemption.

First, you should know that Amtrak is no longer bussing from Klamath Falls if you're connecting to the EB. The connection is once again in Portland, unless there is a problem.

As for the rest, it depends on circumstances. There are some connections that AGR will allow, even though the normal routing would take you a different way. Frankly to me it sounds like you hit an agent who didn't know better and perhaps a connection or two that is allowed, even though it's not the norm.

Watch your account carefully though and make sure that they don't take out more points than you're expecting.

wow, that's great that the klamath bus is history. i may call and change the reservation to take the cs to pdx and the eb from there.

as far as the points, agr sent me a confrim. 15,000 points for a roomette for 2 each way
