All well and good until the Union mopes get involved and this horrific SCA gets protected rather than booted. By the way, since Amtrak is a public agency, technically the details of disciplinary action(s) should be public record. They won't be, of course, since the Union doofs will chime in but the point of public record is to give misreants reason to pause before they perform badly.
It is always great to hear from someone so smart that they KNOW in advance exactly what the outcome will be; and in doing so does not express any personal opinion or prejudice. Thanks....

Re: the pens, it would be nice if they had a little cup for them with a label that said, "Please use black ink to sign your meal check." They're usually just sort of scattered by the Basket o'Dressing.

Orrrrrrrrrrr, the server could simply say, "Here are your meal checks. Please use the pens on the table to sign them if you don't have a pen with black ink. Our machines can't read blue ink." It would take three seconds.
I've had several servers quickly and pleasantly explain to please use one of the pens on the tables and fill out only the bottom part of the check as they will fill in the rest, or if you are in Coach to do nothing with the check. Even though I know how to fill out the rest of the form I leave it to the server to do that and keep everyone happy. When I'm done with the pen I usually stick the point in one of the vent holes under the windows which make a good solid pen holder.

And being a guest, whom we know nothing about, they certainly show their qualifications, their experience and do a great job of explaining why they have the opinion they do.

Another valuable contribution by a guest.... :D

I always hate to see someone get in trouble and have their livelyhood threatened. That being said, there are times where the job is not a right fit for a person, and that person should be given every opportunity to change or be reallocated as a resource. I feel the same about that lady that works at the station in Kannapolis. Her charm turns people off of Amtrak. Unfortunately, she doesn't work for Amtrak, she works for the state of North Carolina, where it's almost impossible to find a boss to tell. But I'm sure that she is a better fit somewhere where she doesn't have to come in contact with paying guests. I would hate to see her get terminated, though, as it can have implications on her health insurance, retirement, etc.

You didn't hear it from me (LOL), but, It appears that the aforementioned SCA is no longer working in that position, since the job has been posted as available for bid.

:) So, you doubters out there, things do happen from time to time. Plus, this is a good sign regarding the new boss in CHI. :)

I'll reserve judgement for that until I hear that members using day passes at the Metropolitan Lounge stop getting harassed. ;)

Whoa. I wonder if this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Perhaps others have been complaining about her too.

Well good. Someone who needs a job and is eager to do the job well will have a paycheck now.

It seems like Good Things are starting to happen in CHI! There are some New Attendants @ the Metro Lounge that seem much more Pleasant and Helpful and One of the Old Witches is now Working in the Back Office Counting Tickets! Even Tim has become Semi-Friendly! Hopefully this will Soon apply to the Gate Attendants @ Union Station and the Cleaning Crews in the Yards too!

Not exactly a result I can take any amount of pride in. But being a manager myself, I can understand why such an outcome happens.

There are a lot of scenarios that may have occured here, and I don't know what actually did occur. They may have chosen to retire; they may have been disqualified out of sleeper and are working a coach job; they may have been forced off the road and into the yard in a redi-crew position; They may have had "issues" that required them to take long term LOA to address these issues; etc. And of course they may have been terminated...

It's not a matter of taking pride IMHO. It's a matter of letting Amtrak know that they have a problem that affects the customer service levels that both Amtrak and the passengers expect. It's a matter of doing the right thing by letting Amtrak know that they have a problem.
