Batteries?

Leaving tomorrow and need to know if I can take extra batteries for my camera on the train. Do I need to put them in carry on or Checked?

I just did a trip and took 4 sets of 4 double a batteries in my carry on. Wasn't problem in the airport or on the train.

Thanks for the answers guys. I didn't realize on my earlier post this morning that it had jumped to a 2nd page. Some more of the new wearing off I guess.
