From what I have glimpsed of the family bedroom or handi cap room, it seemed rather cold and uninviting to me.
The H room is basicly just an extension of the Roomette with space for a wheel chair and an accessable commode. Having ridden in an H room 14 times and having rides 15-19 scheduled for next year, I personally have never felt that it was cold, except for an over working air conditioner, or uninviting, except when occupied by another! B)
Isn't the H-Room the largest of the Sleepers?
well it does have an accessible restroom in the same room. I would suspect that combining the sq footage of an accessible restroom and a deluxe bedroom would be very close.

Bob
I would presume you meant comparing instead of combining. Anyway, you could be right! It's been over 16 years since I traveled in the bedroom. But if I were a betting man I would place my money on the H room. Remember that the H room on a Superliner is the entire width of the train whereas the bedroom is minus the hallway. On the Viewliner it would be closer, but I think that the H room just might squeek out the Bedroom.

Would somebody take a train trip and bring a tape measure along to check that out? ...

add a Deluxe bedroom, AND a accessible restroom and I bet the total would be about equal to a superliner H room.

I'm going next week and will have a tape measure.

but, according to Amtrak

superliner bedroom is 6'6" X 7'6" plus the accessible restroom,

H bedroom is 6'9" X 9'5" I suspect the restroom is bigger than 6'6" X 1'11"

But if the bedrooms on the Viewliner have a partition (I don't know if they do or don't) and two bedrooms can be opened into one, then I believe that the two room, two bath short lease apartment :D would be the largest!
The Viewliner Bedrooms have the sliding partition, just like 4 of the 5 bedrooms on the Superliners.

Using the dimensions given on Amtrak's website I have calculated the square inches of each room of both the Superliner and Viewliner. What suprised me was that the Family Room is actually smaller that the Bedroom in the Superliner causing me to quadtriple my calculations. But I guess, when you think about it the Bedroom has a bathroom whereas the Family Room doesn't.

I did not include the Roomette since it did not enter into the discussion.

The list below shows the room sizes from largest to smallest:

1. Superliner Bedroom Suite......... 14040 ............... 97.50 Sq.Ft.

2. Viewliner Bedroom Suite........... 13260 ............... 94.44

3. Superliner Accessable Room...... 11337 ............... 80.34

4. Viewliner Accessable Room......... 8790 ................ 62.22 *

5. Superliner Bedroom.................... 7020 ................ 48.75

6. Superliner Family Room............... 7006 ................ 48.70

7. Viewliner Bedroom...................... 6630 ................ 47.22

* Bathroom Dimensions Not Available for the Viewliner Accessable Room. A minimal figure of 5x3 was estimated based on memory.

EDITED: TO ADD SQUARE FEET
