Me and my best friend took a one-night vacation to Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, using Amtrak's Borealis as our means of transportation. This is a trip we would've likely not taken if the train did not exist. Our trip started in Milwaukee with a delay of over an hour because the westbound train had some mechanical issues prior to its departure from Chicago. Because of this, we were stuck at the Milwaukee Intermodal Station for around two hours (We arrived at MIS an hour before the Borealis' scheduled departure time, because traffic in Milwaukee was flowing smoothly). Once on board, everything went well. We had lunch from the cafe car, and made arrived at the Dells about two hours later.
We returned home yesterday, and while the train was delayed again, it was by only about 10 minutes, despite a winter storm at its origin point in MSP. Given Amtrak's tendency to cancel trains due to inclement weather. I was concerned that I wasn't going to have a way to get back to MKE. In the end, we got back to Milwaukee around twilight.
