Hi all, I hope forum members can help me with a question I have. I plan to travel on amtrak from Baltimore (BWI) to Poughkeepsie (POU) on Feb 23 departing at around 4pm. I don't know if I can make the 3:32pm train or have to catch the next one.

Should I reserve my ticket in advance if I am unsure which train I can catch? Or should I just buy my ticket at the station? What are the chances that the train will be fully booked?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would always recommend buying a ticket in advance, since trains are booked on a Reserved basis. This will also give you a definite itenerary, so you can plan your New York layover accordingly.

Another reason to buy the ticket in advance is that Amtrak uses variable pricing--tickets cost more as the train fills up.
