These are always or almost always very short sections so large capacity batteries are not required. Such is not the case for San Jose to Gilroy. Charging time could even affect the number of train sets required, and reliability of electrical capacity of the charging stations, should be one on each end, is an absolute necessity. California needs to get out of Fantasyland and get modern diesels, or replace the engines in the ones they have to cleaner models, or simply go to DMU's.There are several light rail systems that already do this, use battery in areas where wires are not able to be installed or are undesirable.
