Cancel an AGR Sleeper Reservation

I know that if I want to cancel a paid (with money) sleeper ticket, I have to cancel at least seven days before the train leaves to get a full refund of railfare and accommodation fare.

If I have an AGR sleeper reservation, how much in advance do I need to cancel it before I lose the points "paid" to reserve it? Do I have to cancel 7 days in advance, or do I have a lot more leeway?

I don't know if this is normal, but last year (or a couple of years ago - all trips blur into one :lol: ), I had an award trip that included a detour route. But on the return, the route may have had the possibility of flooding. So I waited as long as I could, but eventually cancelled my sleeper award.

The cancellation was only like 3 or 4 days out - but I got all my points back!
