Looks like Amtrak 50 and 51 will meet up almost at the same time at Hinton, WV in about an hour or so (2025-01-10 at 6:00 pm). 50 is running 7:10 late and 51 is running about 0:15 late. Might be an interesting photo op but for the fact that it will likely be dark by then.

Amtrak railfans in Ohio and Kentucky were given a treat today that's rare--the Cardinal passing through their states in daylight. Unfortunately, this was not a great experience for the passengers aboard as it was delayed 7 hours after it left Indianapolis, but it was cool to see it pass through in daylight (at least from what I saw on railcams).

It also had a phase 7 sleeper at the end of it deadheading on its way east.

(If I wasn't working today, I would have headed down south to watch the Cardinal pass through in the daylight in person)

The westbound Cardinal that was due into CUS was severely delayed (approximately 10 hours) and arrived into Cincinnati at 12:28P. It was held at the Maysville, KY station for quite a long time due to mechanical issues and then terminated at Cincinnati, where the passengers were bustituted to Chicago. It picked up a freight locomotive for the trip from Maysville to Cincinnati...

I'm not sure what would happen for the passengers points west of Cincinnati (I'm assuming bussed as well)?

The train did not stay there in Cincinnati, but left at 12:49P after all passengers deboarded. I'm assuming it headed for Beech Grove?
