Changing my ticket bought with points

I have a ticket for the Pacific Surf. for when I return to the U.S. through LAX. As I look at my itinerary I'm beginning to think I may not make it on time, given that I'll need to catch the Flyaway bus to Union Station, and the last time I did that traffic really slowed us down. My question is, since I bought my ticket on points, will I be penalized for changing the ticket to a later train. Also, Can I make that change (to a later train) on the day of my ride?

Technically, unless Business Class or during certain periods (like Thanksgiving holiday), Surfliner tickets are "unreserved", which means they are good on any train during their effective period (typically 6 months).

Surfliners are one of the few services that remain with unreserved ticketing.
