Wife got an companion eCoupon last year as part of the Chase AGR and we never got the opportunity to use it. Can I

Make a reservation now for after it expires?

What if I cancel that reservation? Is the eCoupon still good? Does it extend?

Go to a station. Ask if you can roll over the voucher into a new voucher. If you can't, buy a ticket with it. Then, a day or two later, cancel it and get a voucher for it...

When I had that problem, I called Customer Relations. They put the value of the voucher on a "file credit" for me. When I did get around to making reservations, I had to do such thru Customer Relations.

I have found that as long as your request is reasonable, the Customer Relations will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

EDIT: Oh wait. Did you have an actual Voucher, or simply an expiring coupon?

I had a similar situation like yours late last year. The coupon was scheduled to expire in late November. I made a reservation for travel before the coupon expired but later, for legitimate reasons, had to cancel. The coupon extended for another twelve months after canceling the trip. I wound up using the coupon in April 2015.
