Sometime during the summer I plan on going to NYP to pick up a friend in NY. I will be leaving PHL on a NER in coach but the two of us will return on AE in FC. My question is can I access the CA in PHL of course presenting the FC ticket to board the NER to NYP? It's a same day return. Gotta collect them AGR points!

That is good to know...

But it makes me wonder, since I'm more likely to be in this situation...

What if someone took the AE FC to NYP and returned the same day on a NER; Could they show both tickets and gain access to the CA in NYP while waiting for the NER?

When you arrive in the CA, just show them your FC ticket stub, then advise the agent which train you're departing on. Then the agent will be sure to call your train when it's ready for boarding. While at the counter, you can ask for a red cap if needed.

Great! Thanks! :hi:

You don't even need to be connecting to an Amtrak train to gain access to the CA's or the Metro Lounges. As long as you have a same day First Class ticket or a sleeper ticket or stubs for either, you are entitled to use the lounge. And by same day, that means that you were traveling that day in either a sleeper or FC.

So for example, if you had booked a sleeper for yesterday's Capitol Limited out of Chicago, when you arrive into DC you are holding a "same day" ticket stub for a sleeper. So you could then use the CA in DC to await a Regional train to NY. And upon arrival in NY, assuming that the CA is still open, you could gain entry to NY's CA to await a LIRR train or an NJT train if you so desired to wait in the Club Acela. Note: you won't get announcements for either the LIRR or NJT, although NJT trains still appear on the monitors in the CA. LIRR trains don't show on the CA monitors.

Funny you mention that Alan! I will most likely be taking a Septa commuter from Chestnut Hill West and Looking at schedules if the timing works out right IF we take the Noon AE from NYP and get in On-Time at 110ish. We will have about 45 minutes to kill. Why not head to CA PHL! Only the Amtrak trains are displayed in CA PHL.
