Leaving on a track train.
Don't know when I'll be back again.
I'm on CS finally after sweating out rail strike. Last year I was stopped at Klamath Falls when wildfire threatened trestle and had to turn around. Hope to make it all the way this trip.

What part of the Coast Starlight are you on with the gorgeous ocean views?

When I was on it from Portland to Sacramento, there were lots of mountains and lots of tunnels. But darn it no ocean.

I’m assuming you’re way farther south on the route than I was?

The Starlights Ocean views are from Santa Barbara North to the Vandenburg Missle Base Patty.

The Surfliners also run on this route as far North as San Luis Obispo.

The great ocean views go as far South as Oxnard. That's where the eponymous Eagles Ventura Highway song is referencing. A deep, calming experience. the ghost like Catalina islands add mystery to the view.

That would be Anacapa and Santa Cruz island.

I have come across people who didn't believe how great the scenery is on both day stretches of the Coast Starlight. Then they try it and want to ride it again.
