Dinner On The Capitol Limited

Hello Everyone,

I just booked my first Amtrak trip. I am going to get on the Southwest Chief in Kansas City and ride the Capitol Limited from Chicago to Washington D.C. This will be round trip with sleeper accomodations.

Anyways, the Capitol Limited leaves Chicago at 6:40 PM. I was wondering if they serve dinner that evening or if I'm on my own. I am just trying to get a rough idea so I can budget accordingly.

Dinner is served on the Cap and they should let you chose a time in the Metropolitan Lounge when they check in your ticket.

If you want to first setting for dinner starts before the Limited leaves Union Station in Chicago.

Is that also the case for the SWC, which is scheduled to leave Los Angeles at 6:15 P.M.--

that my dinner reservation would be handled when I check into the Metro Lounge in L.A.?
