Artist arrested on suspicion of 'abstracting electricity' to charge iPhone on London Overground train

An artist has criticised transport police after he was arrested for using a plug on a London Overground train to charge his iPhone.

Robin Lee was handcuffed and put into a police van after using the power socket on a train from Hackney Wick to Camden Road on Friday, July 10.

The 45-year-old, who lives in Islington, said the whole episode was "ridiculous" and was first confronted on the train by a police community support officer who said he was taking the electricity illegally.

At least he wasn't caught doing this in a heavily militarized society where being strangled or shot to death while posing no imminent threat is considered normal police activity.

Did you have the United States in mind or were you thinking of Russia? :p

Wow, wonder if carrying chargers or adapters on London trains is cause for arrest and fine?

Maybe Amtrak could raise revenue by charging for juice to charge appliances aboard like Austin does for electric vehicles?!

Did know one take the time to read the other articles on the website?
