Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a purchase made from Drug Store.com via the shopping portal. I made a purchase through the portal on 10/10/14 expecting 4 points per dollar spent. . The transaction showed up both in the transactions and in the clicks section. No action was taken on this purchase and finally Drugstore.com denied the points last month saying that the purchase was made though their search engine.

First off how could a purchase show in the transactions section without being legitimate and what about the three clicks to the site that day? Amtrak customer service could do nothing about getting the points back.

This experience proves that drugstore.com is a scam outfit that is not reputable.

Avoid this seller at all costs.

I must dispute this claim.

I use drugstore.com all the time, and have never had a problem with them. In fact, the points may even post faster then other retailers!

One other thing about your post. You said "... Amtrak customer service could do nothing ..." - I don't dispute that. Amtrak has nothing do do with them. You must contact AGR, not Amtrak.

It's really awesome to take a single data point and extrapolate that out to an all encompassing blanket judgement.

I, too, have used drugstore.com many times and have received my points.

Just to add another point of view........I used Drugstore.com through the shopping portal late in 2014. Small purchase, but I did not get the points either. Not enough points to raise a stink about though.

Got fast shipping and quality products, though.

OK people. We have two instances here of drugstore.com not awarding points properly and a few that received their points. Please explain then:

1. How the transaction got listed on my transactions?

2. How three separate clicks are also listed just before the purchase.

BTW, I did call AGR and they said they the merchant holds fast to the claim that the purchase , even in view of 1. and 2.was not made through the shopping portal. I made this purchase though the portal and the website backs it up. If this outfit is not a scam, then it is an extremely disreputable business.

There's also reports of other websites not giving points correctly, either. There was one time where, for whatever reason, Newegg didn't give me points for a purchase. I never pursued it, as maybe I clicked out of the window and then back in, so maybe I didn't do the click through quite right. It may have been something where you clicked through and within X amount of time purchased something, but the website finds that you clicked out of a certain window and then back in through a different method.

Again, drugstore.com is owned by Walgreens. It's not like it's some fly-by-night scheme, or a website that takes your money and runs. I assume your products were delivered in the correct condition and within the advertised timeframe. In my view, a company that is "extremely disreputable" or a "scam" is one that doesn't deliver the product ordered. Just because you didn't get the points doesn't make them "extremely disreputable."

This is why it's foolish to make purchasing decisions based on earning points. Never get caught buying from someone new simply because they dangled some monkey points in your face. Taking the time to complain that's its not fare is fine but the real message to take away from this thread is that points should be the absolute last and final factor to consider. In any situation where sellers differ beyond points always choose the seller with better prices and/or service and/or reputation. The points you earn should be the seen as the cherry on top rather than the reason you walked in the door.

Agree

I had this problem with La Quinta in Portland, Maine a couple of years ago when La Quinta was running a Partner Special with AGR!

Even though I booked on Line through the AGR Shopping Portal, and AGR verified this, LA Quinta refused to give me the Bonus Points!

After several phone calls AGR adjusted my account and gave me the points as a "Goodwill" gesture!

I have not, and will not, stay with LA Quinta again! Plenty of competetors to choose from! Buyer Beware!

most La Quintas sucks anyway. They have the smallest bathtub i ever seen. More like kid-size.

I agree, I only make purchases that I would be making anyway. But you can't just go on points, price or reputation. As an example, you have a prescription to refill. Your choices are:

Drugstore.com = price $5.83, points 7/$

Wal-mart.com = price $3.68, points 1/$

"Al's Drugs" = price $2.49, points 33/$

Which do you choose? (Remember that Drugstore.com is owned by Walgreens.) You earn more points from Drugstore.com, but Wal-Mart is less but you don't earn as many points. However, "Al's" is less than both but gives you much more points.

True. On my transaction, which was just less than twenty bux, I needed the item, and the price was right, so the points, had I gotten them, would have just been gravy. Not getting them, therefore, was not something I felt a need to gripe about.

Just ordered something on drugstore.com through the portal and noticed, after my purchase, that they're offering 2 pts/$1 bonus through the end of Feb. 7 pts/$1 - get it while you can. :)
