I am planning a trip to Memphis with my parents and brother. What I am looking for is how many AGR points are needed for the MEM-CHI leg? I think we have around 50,000 points.

Assuming you and your brother are adults you seem to be planning on putting 4 adults in a Family BR. I suggest you check the size of the FBR and the size of the beds.

I am not employed by the Amtrak Bedroom Police, not even part time but I just don't think that what you are planning is feasible.

Unless you are getting some high prices a Memphis to Chicago trip is probably a bad usage of points

I agree with both of the last 2 posts!

You are aware that the Family room does have 4 beds - but only 2 are "normal sized". The other 2 are around 4 feet long! (That's why they are called child's beds!)

And I think most times I've checked NOL-CHI, the up charge has been something like $90-95!

Yes, I'm well aware of that! Since we can't techically fit in a deluxe bedroom, and we don't have enough points for two roomettes, the family room kinda stook out. I don't think my brother and I won't have much of any trouble at all squishing into the beds (I don't even think he sleeps that much when we're at home, and with his PSP I don't think he'll be asleep that much   !

The problem is that when you reserve, the agent may ask for the names of the "kids". If they are not like 5 & 8, they may not reserve the F-Room!

Well there have been instances where they've reserved only two people into a family room, so you can never really tell what they'll say. Thanks for the help!
