I'm easily confused, obviously! :p

Sense there are no sleepers above NYP, how many points would it cost me to go from STP - POH, using a roomette as far as possible & then coach the rest of the way ( or upgrading to Quiet car )?

AND is the ferry to Burlington part of Amtrak?

Since there doesn't appear to be a routing from there to here (I just tried online), you may have trouble booking this as a one-zone reward (if I understand how things work correctly, which is doubtful at best).

Assuming that you can find an agent who knows how to do things right, it should cost 15,000 AGR points. That would include the bus to TPA or ORL, roomette to NY, coach to POH. But note that you would be on your own for the night in NY, Amtrak won't help you there and a same day connection is not possible.

And again, while that is a valid routing for AGR, don't count on all agents knowing how to process it.

1st, a sleeper reward costs 15K/20K - no matter how far you travel in the sleeper. Going from KIN-CHI, I can only take a sleeper on (among other trains) the CL from WAS. There are no sleepers between KIN and WWAS, but I still have to redeem a sleeper award for KIN-WAS if I want a sleeper WAS-CHI.

2nd, no the ferry is not part of Amtrak.

3rd, there is no "upgrade" necessary to sit in the quiet car. It cost the same as coach.

You're entitled to Business Class instead of coach for the portions you're not in a sleeper, I believe.
That is true, when BC is available, but the Adirondack doesn't have BC so all he'll get is coach. And the sleeper will get him all the way to NYP, so no BC there either.

Except that AFAIK if you're doing an AGR redemption for sleeper class, in the NEC that only qualifies you for BC on a train such as the Northeast Regional, and not Acela Express Business Class, but I suppose one could argue that that's an artifact of the routing system connecting long distance trains to the Northeast Regional and not the Acela Express.
