Track work.So I called, train was cancelled due to “Service Disruption”… don’t know how they were able to predict problems going to happen about 4 weeks out… but once I get back the voucher i am going to rebook the same train and see what happens…
Isn't there a way they can do track work without having to cancel trains? They do road work on the interstates all the time without closing the road down. Having to close a rail line to do track work kind of puts rail (passenger and freight) at a competitive disadvantage.Track work.
Could that be because there are no one lane interstates? They do road work on the interstates all the time without closing the road down.
Maybe a single track area with no viable detour. Maybe a bridge?Isn't there a way they can do track work without having to cancel trains? And that one has happened many times on Interstates. Moreover, on the Interstates, governments spare no expense, issuing no-bid contracts at high prices with incentives. I doubt the railroads would do that, not only because of the cost but because their (freight) trains can be re-routed more easily than the customer's (i.e. Amtrak's) trains which the freights would be happy to get rid of anyway.Maybe a single track area with no viable detour. Definitely. I was just saying that track work is a reason for there to be a service disruption alert several months in advance as track work is usually planned out far ahead.Isn't there a way they can do track work without having to cancel trains?
